The brief

People’s reluctance to think or talk about dying means many feel unprepared and distressed when facing the end of life. Terminal illness charity Marie Curie wanted to break this taboo.

The Idea


Whatever You Call It… A campaign about death, without saying… it. Making a playful song using all the ridiculously wonderful and bizarre euphemisms we use instead. And some cute and crafted visuals.

The execution

The campaign ran across TV, radio and social. Alongside an online resource called Talkabout with conversation starters (including some cute playing cards).

The Result

Some brilliant national media coverage including a lovely segment on prime time This Morning and Ad of the Day on Campaign. We hit our campaign KPIs within the first week and created a platform the charity rolled out across PR, podcasts and internal comms. Awards wise we got Gold at Creative Circle and shortlisted at British Arrows and D&AD.
